The overall objective of the project (1.4 meuro) is the modernization of customs legislation and practice in line with the EU standards for proper and effective implementation of the Union Customs Code. To this regard, the customs chemical laboratories have to support the Administration not only in the institutional function regarding the collection of revenues, but also for the safety, security and protection of society in general.
Therefore, the Italian/Dutch consortium will support and build up the capacity of the Chemical Laboratories of Turkish Customs Administration by strengthening its institution capacity in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of analysis, in order to prevent and combat customs frauds.
Management policies and working methods of customs laboratories in line with the best EU practices will be highlighted and developed; moreover, assistance will be provided in increasing the administrative capacity and comparing the legislative and physical structure of the Turkish and EU Customs Laboratories.
Eutalia supported the Italian Customs administration in drafting the Project proposal, the work plan and budget and, in its role of Mandated body, was responsible for administrative and logistics support, including during training and visibility events, as well as contractual, administrative and financial management during contract implementation.
